Microsoft Nabs Web Publishing Service Vendor

Microsoft has gone out and done it again. They recently bought Rapt Inc., a web publishing vendor out of San Fransisco. This acquisition is just the latest in a number to fill Microsoft’s suite of publishing and advertising tools.

The move “puts us way ahead of what other offerings are available in the market,” Scott Howe, a general manager in Microsoft’s advertiser and publisher solutions group said, likening Microsoft with Rapt to a jet plane, with rivals, including Google, being a bicycle.

What’s so special about Rapt? They have a unique combination of technology and strategic advisory services that enable organizations to get the most from their media assets. Their technology helps better price, predict and provision their advertising assets.

Pick up where competitors fall down

Everyone overlooks things now and then. If you’re running a business, it’s impossible to cover all areas. No matter how much you try, on occasion your site may let slip a broken link or outdated information. Just as you have your slip-ups, your competitors will too. As every site owner knows, pages do sometimes go astray and links get broken. When this happens, you can be there to pick up the slack. Continue reading

Search Engine

se2.jpg

Think of search engines as a fast-as-lightning online researcher who is able to collect and sort by relevance, many and various information on a topic of interest needed by a particular user. There are many search engines available in the internet (the most popular of which is Google, if I may say so myself). These search engines have 3 components – the first component gets all the web pages it can find; the next component then builds an index of those pages; the third component is the one that actually serves lists of pages matching a user’s inquiry.
